Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., has named both the CEO and the associate vice chancellor for population health of its adult clinical enterprise.
Here are eight things to know about the two leaders.
David Posch will move from his role as CEO of Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital and Clinics and executive director for the Vanderbilt Medical Group to the newly created position of associate vice chancellor for population health of VUAHC.
1. As associate vice chancellor for population Health, Mr. Posch's focus will be the development and coordination of population health activities within VUMC and the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network.
2. Reporting to Mr. Posch will be the executive director of VHAN, the senior vice president for population health, a new chief clinical care officer for VHAN and a new medical director for VUMC population health.
3. Mr. Posch, who has served as CEO of VUAHC since 2011, will continue to report to C. Wright Pinson, MD, deputy vice chancellor for health affairs and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System in this new position, which took effect July 1.
4. Mr. Posch arrived at VUMC in 1999 as COO of the Vanderbilt Medical Group, having served in administrative roles at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans and with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and has been promoted to positions that include an increasing scope of responsibilities spanning VUMC's clinical enterprise.
Mitchell Edgeworth will move from his role as COO of Vanderbilt University Hospital and Clinics to the position of CEO of VUAHC.
5. Mr. Edgeworth's appointment took effect July 1.
6. As CEO of VUAHC, Mr. Edgeworth will focus on all aspects of operational performance for the adult clinical enterprise, "ensuring patient-focused, high performing, results-oriented operations that support VUMC’s mission, vision and business operations," VUMC said.
7. Mr. Edgeworth joined VUMC in 2012 as COO of Vanderbilt University Hospital. In 2014, he was promoted to COO of VUHC.
8. Prior to joining VUMC, Mr. Edgeworth was with Quorum Health Resources where he served as regional vice president and was responsible for the operational performance of 12 hospitals located across multiple states.
