UPMC Chief Financial Officer Rob DeMichiei to retire

Rob DeMichiei, executive vice president and CFO of UPMC, is retiring at the end of the year, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Mr. DeMichiei became CFO of the organization 15 years ago. Under his leadership, the medical center enhanced transparency in financial reporting and expanding statewide and internationally, with UPMC International.

UPMC Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Romoff credited Mr. DeMichiei with playing "a key role in UPMC's growth to a $20 billion integrated healthcare financial and delivery system," according to a statement obtained by Tribune-Review.

Before joining UPMC, Mr. DeMichiei held executive-level finance roles with General Electric, including CFO of its transportation system's global service operations.

Ed Karlovich, CFO of the medical center's health services division, will take over as interim CFO.
