Jackson-based University of Mississippi Medical Center has named Don Hutson CEO of its hospitals in Grenada and Lexington, effective in March, according to an Associated Press report published by the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal.
Here are five things to know about Mr. Hutson.
1. He currently leads the Marion (Ill.) VA Medical Center.
2. Previously, from 2008 to 2012, he served as administrator and CEO of Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
3. Mr. Hutson, a retired lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Army, also previously led military hospitals and clinics, according to the report.
4. In his new role, he will lead UMMC Holmes County in Lexington, which is licensed for 25 beds, as well as the recently acquired UMMC Grenada, which is licensed for 156 beds.
5. Mr. Hutson's appointment comes as Administrator David Putt, who oversaw UMMC's integration of the Grenada hospital, is retiring.
