Portsmouth Regional Hospital names new chief medical officer

Brian Sanders, MD, will take on his new role as chief medical officer at Portsmouth (N.H.) Regional Hospital on Jan. 16.

Dr. Sanders comes to Portsmouth after serving for six years as the chief of Mass General Brigham Salem's department of pediatric emergency medicine and as chair of its department of pediatrics.

Dean M. Carucci, CEO of Portsmouth Regional Hospital, said in a Jan. 3 release that he believes Dr. Sanders will become an invaluable member of the team as Portsmouth continues efforts to provide high-quality patient care and works toward enhancing the hospital's efforts as an academic medical center.

During his tenure at Salem Hospital, Dr. Sanders actively worked with community physicians to enhance family medical care while also managing one of the busiest emergency departments in Massachusetts. He was also a senior leader in outpatient services as well as the newborn care and pediatric departments.
