Don Mueller is resigning as president and CEO of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia to take a new role in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mr. Mueller is joining Siskin Children's Institute in Chattanooga, Tenn., a nonprofit organization that provides diagnostic services and treatment for special needs children, according to a Feb. 14 news release.
St. Christopher's COO Robert Brooks will transition into the role of president and COO in the coming months, St. Christopher's owner, Tower Health, said. Mr. Mueller will remain CEO during the transition period.
West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health and Philadelphia-based Drexel University in partnership own and operate St. Christopher's. Mr. Mueller became CEO of St. Christopher's in July 2020. His tenure began months after Tower Health and Drexel University bought St. Christopher's, but Mr. Mueller did not make the permanent move to Philadelphia, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
"We are grateful for Don's contributions to St. Christopher's throughout his tenure. We understand this decision was driven by a desire to spend more time with his family and know he will continue to influence and champion pediatrics," said P. Sue Perrotty, president and CEO of Tower Health, said in the release.
"While there's much work ahead, it's an exciting time as St. Chris has rallied community support for its life-saving mission, recruited talented physicians to bolster key service lines, and led significant investments in the hospital’s facilities, equipment, and programs."
Before taking the helm of St. Christopher's, Mr. Mueller served as CEO of Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga.
Mr. Brooks has served as COO of St. Christopher's since September, according to his LinkedIn page. He has also held roles including executive vice president and COO of Chattanooga-based Erlanger Health System, CEO of St. Cloud (Fla.) Regional Medical Center, and COO of Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, according to the release.
