Omar Gonzalez has been appointed vice president of Orlando (Fla.) Health's Puerto Rico/Caribbean Region, effective Oct. 1.
In October 2022, Orlando Health teamed with Doctors' Center Hospital to create Doctors' Center Hospital Orlando Health-Dorado. The new brand replaced Sabanera Health Dorado, the name of Puerto Rico's 105-bed hospital that opened in March 2022.
Orlando Health's partnership with Doctors' Center Hospital recently expanded to include four hospitals and a free-standing emergency department in Puerto Rico.
"Born and raised on the island, with substantial leadership experience at Orlando Health, Omar is naturally a great fit for vice president of the Puerto Rico/Caribbean Region," Orlando Health COO Steve Burriss said in an Oct. 12 news release. "He will focus on building relationships with our Doctors' Center Hospital partners, physicians, community leaders and team members to enhance operational performance and drive organization success in the region."
Mr. Gonzalez joined Orlando Health in 2008 and has held several leadership positions in IT services. Most recently, he was assistant vice president of technology strategy and design, overseeing the system's regions beyond Central Florida.
He has a MBA in management from Strayer University in Orlando and a master's degree in digital journalism and design from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
