Northwestern Memorial HealthCare names leaders for hospital, medical group

Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial HealthCare has named Julie Creamer, MS, BSN, president of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Howard Chrisman, MD, president of Northwestern Medical Group, effective Oct. 12.

Here are six things to know about Ms. Creamer.

1. She has nearly two decades of experience in senior leadership positions at NMHC.

2. Most recently, Ms. Creamer was senior vice president of administration for NMHC and chief transformation executive for NMG.

3. Previously, she was chief nurse executive at NMH.

4. Ms. Creamer's accomplishments include:

  • Managing a diverse portfolio including quality, patient safety and information technology improvements.
  • Playing a key role in the planning and construction of NMH, which was completed in 1999, as well as the development and launch of the Northwestern Medicine 10-year strategic plan.

5. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Milwaukee-based Marquette University and holds a Master of Science from the University of Illinois in Chicago.

6. In addition to her work at NMHC, Ms. Creamer has published and made a number of national presentations on a variety of topics to organizations such as the American Organization of Nurse Executives, American Hospital Association, Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Scottsdale Institute.

Here are six things to know about Dr. Chrisman.

1. He is an interventional radiologist and has been on staff at Northwestern Memorial for or nearly two decades.

2. Most recently, Dr. Chrisman was vice president of clinical operations for NMG.

3. He is a professor of radiology and surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

4. Dr. Chrisman's primary area of clinical interest and research is the treatment of fibroid disease using embolic therapy.

5. Aside from his clinical activities, Dr. Chrisman is vice chairman for clinical operations for the department of radiology and served as vice president of the regional medical practice for the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.

6. He attended undergraduate at Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cornell University and medical school at SUNY Syracuse (N.Y.), as well as completed an internship in the Boston City Hospital System followed by residency in diagnostic imaging at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He also received a Master of Business Administration from Boulder-based University of Colorado with a special emphasis on healthcare administration.
