Kenneth Gibbs to run Maimonides Medical Center: 5 things to know

Kenneth Gibbs, chairman of the board of trustees at Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Maimonides Medical Center, will become president and CEO of the hospital.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Gibbs.

1. Mr. Gibbs will succeed Pamela Brier, who will retire at the beginning of 2016.

2.  He will step down as board chairman prior to taking on his new role.

3. Mr. Gibbs joined the board at Maimonides in May 2013, becoming chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee and assumed chairmanship of the board a year later by acclamation.

4. He led Maimonides through a process of selecting Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System as the right partner for the institution, working with senior leadership at both institutions as well as numerous internal and external stakeholders, according to Maimonides. 

5. Mr. Gibbs has spent more than 30 years in public finance. For the past six years, he has served as president of the Municipal Securities Group at Jefferies in New York City. He will step down from this position before becoming president and CEO of Maimonides.
