Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist said several leadership transitions are in the works at some of its community hospitals as it is developing a new, streamlined leadership model across the facilities.
As part of the restructuring, Chad Brown, president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run, N.C., and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center in North Wilkesboro, N.C., will serve as president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist's South and West areas, according to a Nov. 17 news release. Mr. Brown will have executive oversight of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington (N.C.) Medical Center and Wilkes Medical Center. He became president of Davie Medical Center in 2014. In 2019, his role expanded when he also became president of Wilkes Medical Center.
Cathleen Wheatley, president of Winston-Salem-based Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, will have executive oversight over Davie Medical Center as part of its transition to become a campus of North Carolina Baptist Hospital, now known as Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, according to the release.
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist also announced that Bill James, who became president of Lexington Medical Center in 2014, will step down from the position as part of the restructuring.
"This new leadership structure will help refine our operating model by streamlining executive roles and allow us to better align our service lines in strategy, growth, quality, safety and experience," said David Zaas, MD, president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, said in the release.
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is part of Advocate Health, the nation's third-largest nonprofit health system, which was created through the combination of Atrium Health and Advocate Aurora Health.
