St. Louis-based Ascension appointed Richard Fogel, MD, chief clinical officer for its clinical and network services, effective July 1.
Five things to know:
1. Dr. Fogel is system chief clinical officer for St. Vincent, a 24-hospital system in Indianapolis.
2. He previously served as chair of the office of the CMO at St. Vincent Indianapolis
3. He is a practicing staff cardiologist and electrophysiologist and played a key role in the development and opening of St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis.
4. Dr. Fogel is chair of Ascension's clinical integration committee.
5. In his new role, he will oversee clinical performance for Ascension, which includes 151 hospitals, and lead the design of flexible physician alignment strategies and service lines.
