The Department of Veterans Affairs named Adam Robinson, MD, acting director of the Washington D.C. VA Medical Center, according to a Stars and Stripes report.
Here are five notes:
1. Dr. Robinson, who is slated to serve in the role for four months, is the director of Baltimore-based VA Maryland Health Care System.
2. He has 30-plus years of leadership experience in the Falls Church, Va.-based U.S. Military Health System, winning numerous honors, including the Distinguished Service Medal.
3. He served as the 36th Surgeon General of the United States Navy.
4. Dr. Robinson takes over a few weeks after the departure of retired Army Col. Lawrence Connell.
5. It was intended that Mr. Connell would continue as director permanently, however "issues regarding technical aspects of his initial appointment" made it impossible for him to do so.
