CHI St. Luke's names division senior VP of strategic planning and business development: 5 things to know

Houston-based CHI St. Luke's Health has named Michael Freeman senior vice president of strategic planning and business development for the CHI Texas Division.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Freeman.

1. He will start his new position April 4.

2. In his new role, Mr. Freeman will facilitate the creation of plans for the suburban hospitals, and work with administrative and medical staff to develop business plans that support growth initiatives, according to a news release. Officials said he will also work on future opportunities by positioning CHI St. Luke's through the development of new ventures, partnerships, alliances, acquisitions and the planning and improvement of CHI St. Luke's existing services and facilities. Additionally, Mr. Freeman will collaborate with leaders at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston to develop and align both two organizations' strategic pathway.

3. Mr. Freeman has 37 years of experience in strategic planning implementation and administration, including 28 years in academic medical centers.

4. He previously served as the top strategic planning executive for Penn State Hershey (Pa.) Health System and Penn State Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, as well as vice president of medical center strategic planning at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

5. Mr. Freeman earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa, based in Iowa City.
