Matthew J. Wenzel has been appointed president and CEO of Kansas City, Mo.-based Saint Luke's North Hospital, part of Saint Luke's Health System.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Wenzel.
1. Mr. Wenzel begins his job Aug. 10. As president and CEO, he will lead the first and only hospital serving Platte County, Mo., with more than 20 specialized healthcare services, a Level II neonatal intensive care unit, Level III Missouri time critical diagnosis designation for stroke, complete inpatient and outpatient diagnostic testing and comprehensive rehabilitation services.
2. Mr. Wenzel joined Saint Luke's Health System in 2006 at Chillicothe, Mo.-based Hedrick Medical Center, where he has held leadership roles in administration, ancillary services and information systems.
3. He most recently served as CEO of Hedrick Medical Center, a position he has held since 2011. As CEO of Hedrick Medical Center, he oversaw the opening of the new HedrickMedicalCenter facility in 2014.
4. A search is underway to find a new CEO for Hedrick Medical Center. Until then, Don Sipes, vice president of regional services for Saint Luke's Health System, will oversee its operations.
