The following hospital and health system president departures, including resignations and retirements, were recently reported by Becker's.
Nov. 1-Dec. 23:
1. Denny Martin, DO, stepped down as president of Lansing-based University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing.
2. Richard Parker, MD, will retire Jan. 31 as president of Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Mentor (Ohio) Hospital, and Cleveland Clinic's east submarket in the Northeast Ohio market.
3. Joy Bischoff exited her role as president of OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton to focus entirely on the integration of OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital, of which she became president in 2023 when it was acquired by OhioHealth.
4. Douglas Ross, MD, exited his role as president of St. Vincent Hot Springs (Ark.) Hospital to become president of Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.
5. Michael Lawson exited his role as president of OhioHealth Hospitals and was named Houston Market president at St. Luke's Health in Texas.
6. Bradley Chapman, president of MaineHealth Memorial Hospital in Conway, N.H., exited the role and was appointed senior vice president and president of Upper Allegheny Health System, part of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health.
7. Chris Woleske, who has been with Bellin Health and Bellin and Gundersen Health System for more than 25 years, will retire July 1 as executive vice president and Bellin Region president.
Oct. 18-29:
1. Eunmee Shim, MSN, will exit her role as president of Adventist Health Care Fort Washington (Md.) Medical Center and become president of Bloomington, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center in January.
2. Danny Jacobs, MD, president of Portland-based Oregon Health & Science University stepped down for personal reasons.
3. Cory Hess, president of Lillington, N.C.-based Cape Fear Valley Harnett Healthcare, plans to step down at the end of the year.
4. Mike Smith’s role as president of Bangor, Maine-based Northern Light Health Foundation was eliminated.
5. Tricia Costigan stepped down as president of Waterville, Maine-based Northern Light Inland Hospital and Northern Light Continuing Care Lakewood.
6. Matt Grimshaw, a market president for Trinity Health System, will exit and assume a new role as market president at Lexington, Ky.-based CHI St. Joseph Health in mid-December.
Sept. 20-Oct. 17:
1. Gregory LaFrancois stepped down as president of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
2. Eric Packer, president of Cedar City (Utah) Hospital, will retire in December.
3. Nate Blackford, president of Mosaic Medical Center-Maryville (Mo.), will step down Oct. 30.
4. Crista Durand is no longer president of Newport (R.I.) Hospital after Providence, R.I.-based Lifespan reduced executive positions by 20%.
July 19-Sept. 14:
1. Giuseppe Colasurdo, MD, is stepping down as president of UTHealth Houston after 12 years, the longest service tenure for the role.
2. Mike Schramm, president of CentraCare – Willmar (Minn.), will retire Jan. 3.
3. Jared Shelton departed his role as president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford and will become president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, effective Sept. 22.
4. Robert Smith, president of Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus Health's Wisconsin southeast division, will retire in September.
5. Brian Kief, president of Aspirus Health's Wisconsin south and southwest division, will retire in December.
6. Rita Bunch stepped down as president of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.
7. Josh Conlee exited his role as president of Walnut Ridge, Ark.-based Lawrence Healthcare and was named senior vice president of strategic services at Bernards Healthcare.
8. Lynnette Watkins, MD, stepped down as president and COO of Northampton, Mass.-based Cooley Dickinson Hospital, part of Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham.
9. Steve Roach, president of Marlborough (Mass.) Hospital and Leominster, Mass.-based HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital, stepped down from his role.
10. Paula Carynski, MSN, RN, president of Rockford, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center, will retire Jan. 31.
11. Drew Talbott, president of Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan., retired Aug. 30.
12. Michael Drake, MD, will step down at the end of the 2024 to 2025 school year as president of Oakland-based University of California's system of research universities, health systems and affiliated laboratories.
13. Michael Roussos stepped down as president of VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Va., to join Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System.
14. Jason Harrell, MSN, RN, retired as president of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.-based ECU Health North Hospital.
15. Kevin England will no longer assume the president role at Springfield, Ill.-based Memorial Health because of an unexpected health issue.
