22 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare named A. Marc Harrison, MD, president and CEO.

2. Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph Hoag Health named Michael Beck chief administrative officer of Mission Hospital Laguna Beach (Calif.).

3. Jim Woodward, president and CEO of Manchester, N.H.-based Elliot Health System, is leaving his post in mid-July.

4. Dan DeBarba, executive vice president of Danbury-based Western Connecticut Health Network and president of Danbury and New Milford (Conn.) hospitals, resigned.

5. David Darden, CEO of Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, W.Va., resigned.

6. Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical Center named Mohan Suntha, MD, president and CEO, effective Sept. 1.

7. Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health added three leaders to its executive team. Tanya Blackmon will serve as executive vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer. Denise Mihal, BSN, RN, is now executive vice president and chief nursing and clinical operations officer. Janet Smith-Hill, MSN, BSN, RN, will serve as executive vice president and chief human resources officer.

8. Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md., named Maulik Joshi as executive vice president of integrated care delivery and COO. 

9. Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network is restructuring its leadership. Jeffrey Cohen, MD, a urologist, will take over as president of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, effective June 1. Michael Harlovic, who had been Allegheny General's president for the past two years, is leaving his post. Mark Rubino, MD, was appointed president of Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, Pa. Duke Rupert, who is currently president and CEO of Forbes Hospital, will become COO of Allegheny General.

10. Cincinnati-based Mercy Health appointed Jeffrey Carr as the system's first-ever chief innovation officer.

11. Andrew Goldfrach was named CEO of University Hospitals Avon (Ohio) Rehabilitation Hospital.

12. Trish O'Keefe, PhD, BSN, RN, was named president of Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center.

13. Christian Hospital in St. Louis named Rick Stevens president, effective June 27.

14. HCA Gulf Coast Division — a division of Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America — named Tripp Montalbo CEO of Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas.

15. UP Health System - Marquette (Mich.) appointed Wael Khouli, MD, CMO.

16. Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health named Becky Hardie, BSN, RN, the new CNO of its hospital in Waco, Texas.

17. Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine named Daniel J. DeBehnke, MD, CEO.

18. New CEOs were tapped to lead hospitals under the umbrella of LifePoint Health and Duke LifePoint, both based in Brentwood, Tenn. Brian Springate, BSN, RN, was named CEO of Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg, Ky. Mike Herman was named CEO of Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage, Tenn., and Trousdale Medical Center in Hartsville, TennRod Harkleroad, BSN, RN, was named CEO at Haywood Regional Medical Centerin Clyde, N.C. 

19. Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care named Brian Welton CEO and administrator of the $25 million hospital it plans to build in Crittenden County, Ark.

20. NYC Health + Hospitals named two new leaders for Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. Anthony Rajkumar was named CEO and Mei Kong, MSN, RN, COO.

21. Monty E. Knittel, president and CEO of Walla Walla (Wash.) General Hospital, was named president and CEO of Feather River Hospital in Paradise, Calif.

22. Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, Mich., named Paula Chermside CEO.
