13 latest hospital, health system executive retirements

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following hospital and health system executive retirements in the last four weeks.

They are listed below, in alphabetical order.

1. Bill Carpenter, CEO and chairman of Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health, will retire upon completion of his company's merger with RCCH HealthCare Partners, also based in Brentwood.

2. Burlington, Mass.-based Wellforce CEO Norm Deschene is retiring at the end of 2018.

3. A. Hugh Greene will retire as CEO of Jacksonville-based Baptist Health of Northeast Florida in 2019, once a permanent replacement is found.

4. Brian Grissler, president and CEO Stamford (Conn.) Hospital, retired Sept. 30.

5. Florida Hospital New Smyrna CEO Ken Mattison plans to retire, effective Dec. 23.

6. Frank May, CEO and president of Steamboat Springs, Co.-based UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center, will retire Dec. 31 after serving the hospital for 20 years.

7. Randy Peterson will retire as president and CEO of Topeka, Kan.-based Stormont Vail Health by March 31, 2019.

8. Rich Robinson, CEO of Astria Regional Medical Center in Yakima, Wash., is retiring at the end of October.

9. John Rudd, president and CEO of Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cayuga Health System and Cayuga Medical Center, is retiring in fall 2019.

10. Ed Ruth, president of Mercy Health-Allen Hospital in Oberlin, Ohio, is retiring at the end of the year.

11. UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids (Iowa) President and CEO Theodore Townsend, Jr., will retire Dec. 31.

12. Woodville, Texas-based Tyler County Hospital CEO Sandra Wright, RN, EdD, retired.

13. David M. Zechman, president and CEO of McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey, plans to retire at the end of 2018.
