Glenn Fosdick, FACHE, has served as president and CEO of The Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha since August 2001.
Prior to joining The Nebraska Medical Center, Mr. Fosdick served as president and CEO of Flint, Mich.-based Hurley Medical Center, a position he held for six years. He originally joined Hurley as executive vice president and COO. Before serving at Hurley Medical Center, Mr. Fosdick held administrative positions at various hospitals in New York State. He has been in healthcare for more than 35 years.
During his nearly 13-year tenure at The Nebraska Medical Center, Mr. Fosdick has seen and led the hospital through many changes. For example, he led the medical center through a name change and rebranding in 2003, changing the name from Nebraska Health System to The Nebraska Medical Center. More recently, Mr. Fosdick helped spearhead the implementation of electronic medical records at the hospital. "That's an $87 million dollar project for us," he explained in a video released by The Nebraska Medical Center. "But we believe it'll help us to be even stronger and do the things we [have to] do to provide the best care to our patients."
Under his leadership, the medical center has received many awards, including being named the number one hospital in Nebraska by U.S. News & World Report for 2012-2013.
Outside of leading the 624-bed teaching hospital, Mr. Fosdick is involved in healthcare and the community. For example, he served as the American College of Healthcare Executives' Regent for Nebraska from 2009 through 2012. Additionally, he serves as a member of Omaha-based Clarkson College Board of Directors, is a member and past president of the Nebraska Hospital Association and serves as senior associate dean at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha.
Mr. Fosdick holds the rank of Major in the U.S. Army Retired Reserve, Medical Service Corps. He earned a master's degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
