Powell (Wyo.) Valley Healthcare is partnering with patient financial engagement company CarePayment to offer no-interest, flexible payments for patients, the Powell Tribune reported April 11.
Hospital officials are hoping the program will bring relief to self-pay patients and those with high-deductible health plans, according to the report.
"It has become increasingly common for our patients to have $3,000, $5,000 and $7,000 deductibles," Powell Valley Healthcare CFO Joy Coulston said, according to the report. "This large amount is difficult for many patients to cover, and we are hoping this can be a great option for our patients."
Ms. Coulston said the hospital receives payment right away when a patient starts using CarePayment. The fees for the program — varying from 6 percent to 8 percent — are smaller than what a person would pay a debt collection service, according to the report.
The program is scheduled to begin May 1.
