Sutter Memorial to relocate: 4 things to know

Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, Calif., will relocate to Sutter Health's new midtown location, to be known as the Sutter Medical Center Sacramento, according to a Fox 40 report.

Here are four things to know about Sutter Memorial and the relocation.

1. Sutter Memorial has been serving the Sacramento community since the 1930s, and overall, more than 348,000 babies have been born there, according to the report.

2. On Aug. 8 the hospital is moving its entire operation to the campus of Sutter General Hospital.

3. The move brings all of Sutter Memorial's primary and specialty care services into one, better-equipped location, Rick Harrell, a hospital regional executive for cardiovascular services, said in the report. "We needed upgraded technology to support the community … for our physicians to be closer to us, and closer to the hospital, so that people can really come to a medical campus," Mr. Harrell told Fox 40.

4. In the new Sutter Medical Center, each room is individualized for one patient, an upgrade from rooms at Sutter Memorial, most of which were designed for two patients, according to the report.
