Remedy Labs is opening up its medical insurance service to more people to help prevent patients from overpaying medical bills, according to technology website VentureBeat.
The company said it is now in a public beta stage, according to VentureBeat. However, there is a first-come, first-serve waiting list to sign up for the service.
For customers, Remedy analyzes insurance bills to ascertain whether the charges are accurate and, in the event of a dispute, will advocate on the patient's behalf with the insurance provider, according to VentureBeat. Remedy can also process payments.
Remedy Founder and CEO Victor Echevarria told VentureBeat that the company is able to look at users' claims retroactively and find ways to reconcile any erroneous charges. The company will charge the user if there's any money saved.
Overall, Remedy claims an undisclosed number of customers have saved an average of $1,000 annually after the company found errors for half of them, according to VentureBeat.
