As the cost of healthcare shifts more to consumers, patients are comparing prices of medical services to determine their out-of-pocket expense.
Through a website offered by nonprofit FAIR Health, consumers are able to estimate medical and dental expenditures. Consumers enter a location, whether they are insured and the type of service or procedure. They can then view a specific medical code, the estimated cost for that service or procedure, estimated reimbursement and out-of-pocket cost.
The estimates are based on FAIR Health's database of billions of billed medical and dental services.
According to WPVI, FAIR Health prices do not currently include facility fees, but those charges are expected to be added to the website in the next couple months.
In addition to the website, FAIR Health also offers an app.
