Charles City, Iowa-based Floyd County Medical Center is requesting $500,000 from Floyd County after losing $239,319 in the first five months of fiscal year 2018, according to KCHA News.
Between 70 percent and 73 percent of the hospital's patients are enrolled in either Medicaid or Medicare. Floyd County Medical Center has not received county tax funding in 20 years.
"It was a little staggering, but it's realistic probably in what they're asking for," said Linda Tjaden, chair of the Floyd County Board of Supervisors. "I think our biggest concern is what can we do when we get all the budget numbers put together, in being able to support Floyd County [Medical Center]."
