Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System has raised its minimum wage from $15 to $16 per hour.
The raise will affect nearly 2,000 employees — about 10 percent of the health system's workforce, according to a June 20 news release. It comes ahead of the state's own increase, which will bring minimum wage to $12 per hour later this year.
The pay raise also increases the value of benefits packages, according to the release.
"We've taken this step because we're dedicated to providing all members of the Memorial family with the resources they need to remain personally and professionally satisfied," said K. Scott Wester, president and CEO of the health system. "By investing in our employees, we also invest in their families, and the larger South Florida community we serve."
