Capella Healthcare Executive Compensation Slightly Shifts Upward

Compensation for the top executives at Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare increased year-over-year between 2010 and 2011, as CEO Dan Slipkovich earned the most at $536,482, according to documents from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Capella Healthcare, which is mostly owned by Chicago-based private equity firm GTCR and operates 12 hospitals, is lower among other for-profit hospital companies when it comes to executive compensation. Mr. Slipkovich's compensation jumped18 percent increase from his 2010 compensation of $453,333, but his overall income is far lower than the other for-profits, which provide stock awards and stock options.

Capella CFO Denise Warren earned $497,028 in 2011, an increase from her 2010 compensation of $361,651. She received a $100,000 bonus as part of that compensation package for helping Capella register its debt with the SEC.

For the entire 2011 fiscal year, Capella recorded a net loss of $14.5 million, which was an improvement over the $15.7 million it lost the year before.
