Denver Health gets 'historic' ambulance fleet — with help from a patient

Denver Health received 10 new ambulances, two of which were purchased thanks to a former patient's fundraising, CBS News reported Jan. 10.

The system has not received new ambulances since 2020 because of delays in the supply chain. The ambulances have been redesigned to make them more "purpose-specific" for the city of Denver and are the largest addition to the fleet in the hospital's history.

Two vehicles were purchased thanks to funds raised by Jessica Zofnass Barclay, who was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance in 2021 after losing consciousness at work. She raised tens of thousands of dollars with help from friends and family and a matching donation from the Anschutz Foundation.
