The CDC joined an investigative task force looking into sonic attacks against U.S. diplomats in Cuba and China, McClatchy's Washington, D.C., bureau reports.
The task force was created by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo after another sonic incident was reported by a consulate worker in China this spring. Previous incidents in China and Cuba have left more than 25 Americans with headaches, hearing loss and other issues, according to the report.
U.S. officials and scientists have not yet been able to explain the phenomenon or determine who is responsible. The FBI has investigated the incidents for a year with no results, according to the report.
