20 hospitals with highest, lowest heart failure death rates

Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial Hospital and VA Boston Healthcare System-Jamaica Plain (Mass.) have the lowest death rate for heart failure patients in the country, according to CMS data.

CMS's "Complications and Deaths - Hospital" database collected provider-level data on complication measures, the CMS patient safety indicators and 30-day death rates for hospitals across the nation. The data cover deaths from July 2020 to June 2023 and was last updated July 31.

Here are the hospitals with the lowest and highest death rates for heart failure patients:
