The keys are almost in hand for the first new hospital in a decade to be built in the region just north of Cincinnati, according to an Oct. 25 Cincinnati Business Courier report.
The 60-bed Mercy Health Kings Mills hospital in Mason, about 22 miles north of Cincinnati, is expected to have an outsized impact on the local economy as well as provide care in a 172,500-square-foot facility, the report said. There will also be a medical building adjacent to the hospital offering such specialties as cardiology, pulmonology and vascular services, among others.
Over 80% of the investment and job creation in Mason in the past five years has been in the biohealth sector, said Michele Blair, director of economic development for the city of Mason.
"Mason recruited Mercy Health because we knew it was going to be a positive impact to the city, county and entire region," she said in a statement. "Mercy, an investor in innovation, is quite attractive to Mason's work in the startup space."
The health system is expected to take the keys for the $200 million facility in mid-November and is targeting an opening in the first quarter of 2024, according to the report.
