Mercy Health-Springfield (Ohio) is looking to build a 50-unit employee housing complex on an old Mercy Hospital site, NPR affiliate WVXU reported Feb. 1.
The hospital's 2,000 employees often commute from Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati. The housing is designed to incentivize employees to relocate.
"As we've recruited physicians, recruited nurses, front-line staff, even executives, one of the challenges has been to get folks to relocate to the community," Mercy Health-Springfield President Adam Groshans told WVXU. "And that creates challenges with retention."
