Johns Hopkins Medicine's expansion into Virginia: 4 things to know

Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Medicine is continuing its expansion in Northern Virginia.

Four updates on the health system's moves in Virginia:

1. Johns Hopkins Medicine opened a primary and specialty care center in Arlington on Dec. 4, its second location in Northern Virginia, according to a Dec. 5 news release.

2. The health system opened its first Virginia location in McLean in 2022 and plans to open a third location in the next few years, the release said.

3. "Through partnerships and strategic market entry points, we have expanded into Northern Virginia to grow our signature clinical programs and provide patients with access to Johns Hopkins specialists closer to home and access to many of our unique clinical trials," CEO Theodore DeWeese, MD, told Becker's in December.

4. Johns Hopkins Medicine serves about 50,000 Virginia residents each year, according to the release.
