This VA hospital prioritizes green, sustainable practices in its day-to-day operations, according to its Green Environmental Management Services Coordinator Mary Wenck. Sustainability is an "organizational imperative," she said. While many of the system's buildings are more than nine decades old, the system has worked to make them as efficient as new buildings — in fact, in 2012, five of the campus' buildings earned the top rating of four Green Globes, an environmental building rating system developed by the Green Building Initiative. Additionally, this year, St. Cloud VA Health Care System received a Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth this year.
