NorthShore University HealthSystem Evanston (Ill.) Hospital. As a system, NorthShore is committed to work for a healthier environment and reduce its environmental footprint. Throughout the system, NorthShore converted overhead lighting to efficient fluorescent lamp technology, thus saving 700,000 kilowatt hours annually. Evanston Hospital's sustainability efforts in particular earned it a Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth this year, as well as Practice Greenhealth's Making Medicine Mercury Free Award.
