UF Health Shands Hospital (Gainesville, Fla.) More than 1,000 spinal surgery cases for conditions like spinal fractures and spinal cord tumors are accommodated annually by the faculty at UF Health Shands Hospital. Selected as U.S. News & World Report's No. 21 hospital in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery for 2016-17, the teaching hospital is a designated Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery and one of the top three hospitals in Florida for stroke care, according to CareChex's most recent rankings. UF Health Shands Hospital's Neuro Intensive Care Unit houses 30 beds and patients receive treatment through a collaboration of clinical pharmacists, physical therapists, social workers and psychiatrists. The hospital also has specialists staffing its UF Health Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration, a global destination for its four nationally recognized centers of excellence treating Parkinson's disease and Tourette syndrome.
