Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital (Indianapolis). For more than 100 years, Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital has maintained its position as one of the most well-respected healthcare facilities in the nation.
The 828-bed teaching hospital is partnered with the Indiana University School of Medicine, the second-largest medical school in the country. U.S. News & World Report has ranked IU Health Methodist among the top 50 hospitals in the United States for 10 consecutive years. The hospital has a nationally recognized organ transplant center as well as one of the largest critical care departments in the U.S. The hospital is also home to the Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics, one of the few clinically based medical ethics centers in the country.
This year, IU Health Methodist became one of the first handpicked hospitals in the country to participate in the American College of Cardiology's Patient Navigator Program. This debut initiative is designed help hospitals provide personalized services for patients with heart disease so they can stay home and healthy after their hospital stay. In February, physicians at the hospital were the first in the country to remove a tumor and reconstruct an abdominal wall in surgery using Google Glass, a wearable mini-computer and camera in the form of eyeglasses.
