St. Louis-based Ascension Health is the largest Catholic and the largest non-profit health system in the United States, with hospitals in nearly half of all states. Katherine Arbuckle, CFO of Ascension Health, makes sure the multibillion-dollar organization has the right financial balance.
Ascension Health named Ms. Arbuckle CFO in February, and she provides strategic and operational financial leadership to CEO Robert Henkel and the entire executive team.
In fiscal year 2011, Ascension Health reported total assets of almost $20 billion, operating revenue of $15.6 billion, total profit of $1.5 billion and operating income of $424 million — figures that no other Catholic or non-profit health system can match.
Ms. Arbuckle has more than 30 years of healthcare financial management experience. Before joining Ascension Health, she served as executive vice president and CFO of Bon Secours Health System in Baltimore. Mr. Arbuckle also was the assistant CFO of St. Vincent Hospital and Health Care Center in Indianapolis.
