Touchette Regional Hospital Employees Protest for Raises

Employees of Centreville, Ill.-based Touchette Regional Hospital rallied outside the hospital Thursday for higher pay, according to a report by the Belleville News-Democrat.

The Service Employees International Union organized the demonstration. A SEIU representative said many of Touchette Regional's employees — including nurses aides, admissions workers, cooks, food servers and housekeepers — are living in poverty, according to the report.

More than 100 people attended the rally, the Bellville News-Democrat reported.

Representatives from Touchette Regional have been meeting and discussing issues with employee representatives, according to a hospital statement. "We are hopeful of reaching an agreement on all issues very soon, and we want to continue the detailed discussions," the statement said.
