The healthcare industry added 36,800 jobs last month, contributing to the nation's 215,000 new jobs in March, according to the most recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This is a slight decrease from February, when healthcare added 38,100 jobs, and about in line with the average monthly gain over the prior 12 months.
Within the healthcare industry, ambulatory healthcare services employment grew the most, by 27,400 jobs in March. Next was hospitals, which added 10,200 jobs last month.
In total, healthcare has added 503,000 jobs over the past 12 months, according to the BLS.
