Lake Shore Health Care Center Employees Vote to Join Union

Two groups of employees at Lake Shore Health Care Center, a nonprofit community hospital in Irving, N.Y., have voted to unionize under 11999SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, according to a Buffalo Business First report.

The unionization vote was held Aug. 29. Two groups — the professional employees and the service, maintenance and clerical workers — voted to join the union, according to preliminary vote results. The group of licensed professional nurses and technical workers voted against unionizing, according to the report.

The hospital plans to bargain in good faith with union representatives, according to Buffalo Business First.

Lake Shore Health Care Center is an affiliate of Dunkirk, N.Y.-based Lake Erie Regional Health System of New York.
