Hospitals add nearly 23k jobs in April

The healthcare industry added 44,200 jobs last month, contributing to the nation's overall 160,000 new jobs in April, according to the most recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

This is an increase from March, when healthcare added 36,800 jobs.

Within the healthcare industry, hospital employment grew the most, by 22,900 jobs in April. Next was ambulatory healthcare services, which added 19,300 jobs last month.

Over the past year, healthcare has added 502,000 jobs, according to the BLS.
