The Dutch healthcare technology company Philips will purchase Colorado Springs, Colo.-based The Spectranetics Corp. for about $2.16 billion, reports Denver Business Journal.
Here are four things to know.
- Spectranetics, founded in 1984, develops vascular intervention devices.
- The devicemaker staffs about 900 employees and represents the 58th largest company in Colorado.
- Once the deal is closed, Spectranetics will fall under Philips' image-guided therapy business group.
- The agreement marks Philips' second acquisition this month. Last week, the company announced plans to buy devicemaker Electrical Geodesics for about $36.7 million.
