First Databank, a San Francisco-based company providing drug and medical device knowledge, developed a new medical device knowledge platform called FBD Prizm.
The platform offers a structured and categorized medical device knowledge base that can be incorporated into healthcare information systems to improve clinical, operational and financial outcomes.
The system contains information on implanted devices, surgical instruments and medical supplies, and hospital and durable medical equipment like imaging systems and wheelchairs. The information stems from various sources including medical device manufacturers, industry data pools, providers and government agencies, according to a news release.
