FDA approves Lanett's muscle relaxant drug: 3 things to know

The Food and Drug Administration approved Philadelphia-based Lannett's metaxalone tablets.

Here are three things to know.

1. The drug is a muscle relaxant intended to treat patients with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions.

2. Metaxalone tablets are a generic version of King Pharmaceuticals' drug Skelaxin.

3. Lannett plans to launch the drug this quarter.
