Athenahealth CEO: EpiPen price hikes shouldn't be a political issue

While Mylan's EpiPen price hikes may not be good business, they shouldn't be a federal issue, said athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush during a Thursday appearance on Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria Bartiromo."

Mr. Bush criticized Canonsburg, Pa.-based Mylan, saying that raising the price of EpiPens "too much too quickly" is "dumb business."

He asserted the EpiPen pricing controversy only a national issue because it's a widely used product that underwent major price increases at a time when the public feels like "there's no more room for the healthcare dollar in the budget," Mr. Bush said.

Fox Business' Dagen McDowell agreed with Mr. Bush saying, "They use it as a political issue because it involves children, which definitely plays to people's hearts."
