Here are the seven latest drugs or medical devices approved by the Food and Drug Administration since Aug. 18.
1. Duloxetine, a generic version of Eli Lilly's drug Cymbalta, is used to treat major depressive disorder, general anxiety disorder and fibromyalgia.
2. Gocovri treats dyskinesia, a side effect of a medication prescribed to most Parkinson's disease patients.
3. Kymriah uses patients' genetically modified immune cells to fight relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
4. Vabomere is an intravenous antibacterial drug intended for adults with complicated urinary tract infections.
5. Benznidazole is the first FDA-approved treatment for Chagas disease in the U.S.
6. HeartMate 3 Left Ventricular Assist System pumps blood via a magnetically levitated propeller that simulates the beating of a heart.
7. Victoza may now be used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events — like heart attacks and strokes — in type 2 diabetes patients.
