US News releases 2017-18 Best Hospital rankings

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic earned the top spot on U.S. News & World Report's 2017-18 Best Hospitals rankings for the second year in a row.

The publication released its 28th annual version of the list Tuesday. U.S. News delayed the rankings' release by a week after finding several coding errors associated with new ranking methodologies it adopted this year to account for the socioeconomic status of a hospital's patient demographic, among other factors that could influence a hospital's ranking.

Cleveland Clinic maintained its No. 2 spot on the list, but Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Hospital ousted Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital for the No. 3 position this year.
