Thanks to a new interactive online scorecard that features patient safety records, residents of Virginia can now check how their state's hospitals rank in quality and safety, according to a report from The Daily Progress.
The Virginia Hospital and Health Association Quality and Patient Safety Scorecard includes records for 80 facilities across the state gathered from CMS, Virginia Health Information and the HCAHPS survey.
Each scorecard features information on the respective hospital's healthcare-associated infections, patient safety, readmission rates, mortality data, patient satisfaction and efficiency of Medicare spending per beneficiary.
"VHHA and its member local hospitals and health systems are making available a wealth of data on quality and patient safety for public inspection," VHHA President Sean Connaughton told The Daily Progress. "Providing access to up-to-date information about hospital performance, pricing and public health enables Virginians to be informed about the healthcare system we all use."
