The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety has released a video to address concerns regarding the safety of children that could be at risk of complications when they undergo common procedures involving sedation.
The video features Melissa Langhan, MD, an associate professor of pediatric emergency medicine at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.
"We do a lot of sedations in the emergency department, said Dr. Langhan. "It is helpful to know the limitations of our sedations, when our patients are getting into trouble and when to enhance patient safety in those cases."
Dr. Langhan discusses several case studies in the video, including one involving an intoxicated adolescent.
