CDC report: Flu rates rising as expected but remain low overall

During the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5, overall flu activity increased slightly in the U.S., but remained low overall compared to previous seasons, according to a CDC report.

One influenza-associated pediatric death was reported during the week, making a total of three deaths reported this season so far. The proportion of outpatient influenza-like illnesses was 1.8 percent, which is below the national baseline level of 2.8 percent for the same week in previous years.
