San Marcos, Texas, police are investigating a shooting at Central Texas (San Marcos) Medical Center that left two people dead.
Police were called to the hospital Tuesday morning after a woman found her father and mother dead in her mother's hospital room at about 7:50 a.m. They reported that the husband likely shot his wife, who was hospitalized for a serious medical condition, and then himself.
Central Texas Medical Center has state-mandated signs posted at each hospital entrance stating no guns are allowed on the premises, but does not have a screening system for guns or other weapons in place at the hospital.
The 87-year-old man and 85-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene and investigators are calling the shooting a murder-suicide. Police are not looking for suspects and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
