Several drugmakers are postponing their lidocaine resupply dates, according to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Between two types of local anesthetics, there are 132 in short supply due to high demand and 13 available.
Several companies have postponed resupply dates due to high demand and manufacturer delays, according to a Feb. 21 statement from the ASHP.
- Eugia has 10 lidocaine solutions on backorder with no estimate of release date. There is one lidocaine solution on back order with an estimated release date of late February.
- Fresenius Kabi has four lidocaine solutions on back order with a release date of late February to early March; five with a release date of mid- to late March; three to be released between late March and early April; one with a release date of mid-May; and four with no estimated release date.
- Hikma has one lidocaine solution with a release date of late February and two with estimated release dates of late April. The 50 mL vials are on allocation.
- Pfizer has a back order on lidocaine flip top vials with an estimated release date of December. It also has a short supply of solutions until February for five solutions, March for four, April for two, and one lidocaine solution available in limited supply.
